We have many clubs & organizations in which our residents can participate! We have a sense of community spirit like no other! The following are ways we contribute, volunteer or supply activities for one another.

A.A.R.P.

Open membership for seniors. Mailing address & meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday monthly at 55 Kip Center, 55 Kip Avenue. Service organization "to serve-not to be served". Keeps seniors informed while donating to the needy. For general & volunteer info call Ruth Guerra at 438-4481.

ARTS Anonymous

Open to all professionals and amateurs of all types of artistic vocation. Meetings held every Monday evening at 7pm at the Rutherford Public Library. International artist support group that gives artists the opportunity to surround themselves with fellow artists and discuss problems, market and improve their art. Art Association

Open membership. Meetings are held 3rd Thursday monthly September-June (except January & February) in Boro Hall. Monthly contests, museum trips, painting excursions, informative talks, spring & fall shows.

Babe Ruth League, Inc.

Blood Bank

Member of Bergen County regional Blood Bank Provides blood FREE to any resident of Rutherford. Drawings are held twice a year. For info call Walter Calhoun at 939-1050

Boy Scouts

Open to all boys from 1st through 5th grade for Cub Scouts and ages 11 through 18 for Boy Scouts. Develops leadership and confidence skills & has never turned a boy away for financial reasons. For general & volunteer info call Bill Metts at 933-3898.

Community Band

Garden Club

Open to all Residents. Meetings are September through May at the Rutherford Elks Club on Ames Avenue, the 4th Tuesday of the Month at 7:30pm. Summer meetings are held in Member's Gardens. Girl Scouts

Golden Agers 30th Anniversary.

In-Line Skating

Open to grades lst-6th. Pierrepont school playground. Lessons are offered through the Recreation Department. Helmets, elbow guards, knee pads & wrist guards are required but not included. For info call Recreation Department at 460-3015.

Interfaith Council

Open to participating congregations (check with your church). P0 box 1534. Purpose is to meet the community's social & spiritual needs by pooling the resources of all of our congregations for cooperative ministries, to serve as a communications network & to create a feeling of unity among all the congregations without compromise of religious beliefs. Junior Cheerleading Association

Junior Council

Councilman Kevin Porro, 176 Park Ave. Founded by Dustin Elias & Chris Stios. The council serves as the junior governing body whose purpose is to serves as a representative and liaison for the youth population of Rutherford to our Mayor & Council. Activities this year alone include, Battle of the Band which was held on March 14, 1997 at the Williams Center in which 400 area youth attended. Coming up in May is the Spring Break Dance and Business & Youth Partners for a Day/Hands on Career Day. In June is the 1st Annual Rutherford Olympics and in the Fall there will be a Fall Fashion Show. Please show your support of this energetic and dedicated youth council;

Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Post 227

Service organization open to any US citizen over 16 who is related to a veteran who honorably served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard during any foreign war, which service is recognized by the award of a campaign or service medal. Lions Club

Municipal Alliance Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse

Red Cross

Open membership. 80th Anniversary. 176 Park Ave. Transportation of ambulatory persons to doctors. Instructors teach water safety at HS and conducts CPR & first aid courses. Disaster team is on call around the clock. Loan of home care items to needy. Programs are all made possible by volunteer services & financial support of our residents. Republican Club of Rutherford Inc.

Open membership. P0 Box 304. Meetings are the 4th Thursday of the month at the American Legion, 58 Meadow Road. Visitors are welcome always & refreshments are served.

RHS Athletic Hall of Fame

P0 Box 192. Honors former outstanding athletes from RHS. Two academic/athletic scholarships are given out a year. This years moneys were given toward the new press box at Tryon Field & the computer cluster table at the public library. Exhibits can be seen at RHS & the pub. library. Info contact RHS 438-7675.

Rotary Club

P0 Box 354. Sponsored membership. Meetings every Friday at 7:30am at the Novotelle Hotel. Worldwide organization of business & professional persons who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations & help build goodwill & peace in the world. Rutherford Historic Preservation Commission

Mission Statement: "The Rutherford Historic Preservation Commission actively protects and promotes all of Rutherford's historic resources through advocacy and education."

The RHPC is part of the Borough of Rutherford. The commission's volunteers are appointed yearly by the Mayor and Council. Meetings are open to the public and are generally held at 8:00pm on the first Monday (excluding borough holidays) of each month in the council's workroom, upstairs in Borough Hall. We are always seeking volunteers to fill our membership and to help with commission projects.

Rutherford Tax Payers Association

YMCA
